After the Sangu project, we were a little deflated. The time did not pass without leaving its mark on us as a family. It was very challenging. In November, I took a lot of breaks myself, and the five of us were sick several times at the beginning of the rainy season in November and December. And I struggled with fatigue until March. I postponed a final exam in my master's degree that was planned for April until December 2024. I recharged more with Jesus during this time.
Damaris usually teaches Elia at school, continues to learn Swahili, takes care of the house and yard and contacts for the children. She goes into town with our German tutors who help with homeschooling and helps them to find their way into the culture here. With balls under her arm and ideas for group games, she always loves to go to the social orphan project here in town, plays with the children and also takes Rebekka, Elia and the tutors with her. By the way, Damaris has a new WhatsApp number, cell phone broken. If you would like prayer messages, please send another message to: 255 719 655 189.
We were very grateful for our learning assistant couple Anna and Tim, who were with us from September to December and helped us a lot. At the end of December, Josh from Hohenahr-Erda, whom we had met there last year during the Alpha course, came. Josh helped to build a fence, repair the trampoline and we went on a men's tour with him, Samuel and three other Germans to the national park.
Lena and her sister Noemie were with us until the end of March and were able to teach in the finished school building with internet. Both are native French speakers, which was great for Samuel's French lessons. Sophie has been with us since April. She settled in very quickly and, to Bekki's delight, Sophie also loves painting and crafting.

And if you know anyone else who is thinking about taking a break or working abroad, we are urgently looking for more learning assistants from the end of August to the end of the year. Three months is a great time to get to know something about another culture. Food and accommodation costs are free. The prerequisites are that you enjoy children, have a good secondary school diploma or high school diploma and enjoy doing a service for God.
Rainbow over the learning assistant house. The rainy season is now slowly coming to an end here.
...are doing really well overall. Samuel can sleep much better. He has started a great project to package Bible verses into short films. You are welcome to take a look and even donate a little to the project: The.Bible.Hub (thebiblehub.carrd.co).
After prayer and several months of consideration, we have now decided on a church near us. I have already been able to preach there several times in the English service and Damaris is very passionate about the children's work on Sundays, in which we are involved together. We have started a youth group in our school building. Samuel and Rebekka are there, the three young people from a new German family in town, our tutors and hopefully a few more young people soon. I feel a little transported back to the years as a youth pastor. Damaris and I enjoy passing on to the young people something of what God has entrusted to us.
PS: A little advertisement for the college where I studied theology. If you know someone who is interested in serving in the Kingdom of God, whether full-time or otherwise, please forward the following video link. The Free Theological College in Giessen is a place of blessing for many people around the world. Our work with the Sangu even made it into the promotional video:
PPS: Just as I was about to send the letter off for proofreading, a message came in via WhatsApp: "My wife and I are now saved too!" along with a cloud image of Jesus. The actor who wrote this initially had a totally anti-attitude. God can!
Well, that was a lot, but our hearts are overflowing with gratitude! Thank you, God, for this journey; thank you and all of you for accompanying us so faithfully on this journey!
All the best, Daniel & Damaris with Samuel, Rebekka and Elia
